“O Bueiro opened this month, and with it the exhibition “Desculpa, Mãe’', which brings together the oil paintings of Abel Mota, Afonso Rocha and Diogo Nogueira. It's the first exhibition by theartists, who graduated this year.

It's a gathering of work done over the last year. «Everything has already been done in this studio, and when we realised that our work reflected our experiences and contaminations of each other, we thought of an exhibition» they explain.

The title “Desculpa, Mãe” (‘Sorry, Mum’) came about as a joke. «Due to the provocative content of the works, it can create acertain repulsion. That's why the idea of mum comes up as an authority figure. It's a rather ironic apology. If it were really an apology, we wouldn't even be doing the exhibition.» they explain.

The trio say that there is no message behind the works. «More than a message, it's the ethic of creating together, each in their own universe» they say. «The works are antagonistic because they differ in their roots, but they are masked by similarities. There are two extremes. Some have narratives, others have no meaning at all.»  (...) Abel Mota admits that he doesn't follow any one theme: «I always start from situations and images and work my way through the composition until something emerges».”
